Factory Spec Payload
As with the other brands, everything is incremental.
The F150 isn't a 2-ton hauling truck because Ford (and all the others) have figured out the market for a nice driving and comfortable truck is much larger than the market for rough riding trucks. People already make threads asking how to improve the ride of their F150 trucks on here as it is. If you want a truck with a higher capacity, Ford offers the F250, F350, F450, etc. They would be foolish to overbuild the F150 and start losing out on the real heavy duty trucks. There is no reason, that I can think of, for the F150 to do it all when the F250 (and higher GVWR) already occupy that space very nicely. In the international realm, fewer people drive trucks as family vehicles...so they are more suited to harder work. In the Americas, folks like to buy trucks because they just want one. It's a different set of dynamics and marketing. Well, that's my thought...but I don't work for a large truck maker and I'm not in marketing.

Agreed there. For an everyday vehicle the F150 is what I'd want, rather than the BT50/Hilux etc., especially for highway driving. If I wanted a work vehicle on the other hand, the international vehicles are a better bet, especially if you want to go off road. One of the reasons US domestics just don't sell outside North America.
