I replaced the bulbs with LEDs for that exact reason. Unfortunately they now shine up the tailgate even more than the stock bulbs. I don’t love that look and also notice the camera is worse than my wife’s Jeep. The F150 camera is fine in daylight. Hoping this would solve both issues. Thanks again.

They’re recessed so there’s very little light on the tailgate.

I ordered the Super Duty housings from Tasca for $18.05 each.

Did you get brighter LEDs for those housings? What model of bulb are they and where can I get ones brighter than stock?

I've always found it stupid that the plate lights are not aimed at the plate.

Part number? is it a direct fit? Do we need brighter LED's than what it comes with??

F-150 bumper step pad or Super Duty lamp assembly needs to be slightly trimmed to fit, but the recessed, properly aimed light seems worth the effort to eliminate the glow on the tailgate and the glare into the backup camera.

I might try them stock first, someone else said they seem dimmer than an LED bulb in the F-150 factory plate light housing.

Some swap the bulbs for LED ones, but since the housings are aimed upwards, it just amplifies the glow and glare, which is why I want to swap them for Super Duty ones.
