F150 V6 diesel?

Its obvious here that diesels aren't for everyone. That being said, everyone fails to mention the cost return on trade-in or sale time. That offsets a lot of those recovery years. I think its great ot have a diesel "option" available to those that want it. Personally, I'd love to get fuel mileage in the high 20's with a half ton 4x4, if for nothing else other than the driving range on a tank of fuel. Wouldn't mind all of that low end torque too!
However, I'm speaking of 3/4 ton trucks, as there are not yet any 1/2 ton light trucks available with Diesel engines. Hopefully, this "fantasy V6 diesel" that Nissan, Toyota, and Ford are supposedly "considering", will be a new breed of Diesel engine that actually offers a financial return that us diesel owners haven't experienced in almost 10 years.

I agree that diesel trucks are totally bad ***. I've had 2 over the years (but I'm not bad ***). IMO, diesel technology has been tapped and is archaic. Come check signing time, the auto makers will cave. Hurts to say it, because I love me some stacks, black smoke , and noise.

My son's 2011 6.7 diesel F-350 Screw w/ 8 foot bed does get 26 MPG on some trips (e.g., Baltimore, MD to Norkfolk, Va) Diesel here is $3.80/gallon and that's why I'm trading up to a 2015 F-250 diesel Screw when they come out in April/May. My 2012 F-150 EB Screw only gets 15.3 MPG on the highway - and it is running according to dealer specs.

I also bet he was driving very slow. You two need to trail each other on the same route and speed and I'll bet either your truck will pick up huge or he'll drop like a rock. I had 6.4L diesel and will never go back. Not because the motor broke down, but all the BS and cost that comes with owning a diesel maintenance wise. That was before DEF was being used. Add another PITA every 2-3k miles.

I am in one quite a bit and though I have not seen 26 I have seen well over 20mpg's at 75-80 mph. this was in 0'F weather as well. I drove one for a week same routine to and from work which consists of 11 miles interstate about 1/2 mile of in town traffic to work and reversed on the way home. I averaged that week a tad over 20mpg in the 250 6.7.
3 of the mornings temp was less than 15F below and it started fine, ran fine.
