Default F 150 XL 2.7EB & 800 Pounds

800 pounds (water) is what I need to carry often as I work in pest control
Ranges from 550 to 900 pounds , consistently

Am I asking to much of the 2.7 EB to carry this for
140K miles (10 years ) ?

I could just buy one of the larger engines but I like the idea of better gas mileage

Thanks for your input

not asking to much imho. i would say make sure u have the payload for the rest of the equipment as well. and maybe some super springs to help fight the sloshing while turning ect.

Laup,
That is what these vehicles are designed for. I think you should not have a problem with this in the slightest.

^this. Just be sure your payload capacity is great enough to cover everything. Driver, passenger(s), and any other cargo or tools in addition to the water.

Thanks y'all

Still a little afraid of the 2.7 for such a large vehicle , may go for the 3.5EB or 5.0
And I may still end up with the 2.7
Looking at STX with the long console

I was also not sure about the 2.7, but all the salesman had to do was hand me the keys and tell me to go drive it. Let's just say you will have a different opinion afterwards 😂

The 2.7 will be fine. You will wear out the suspension prematurely however. I don't think you'll get 10 years out of the truck without replacing the rear suspension if you're carrying this weight all the time. I would consider adding a leaf spring, helper springs, air bags, etc.

This this this. It just sounds small. So did the 3.5 when it first came out.

Is there a new version of the 2.7 coming out in August of this year ??
Or is it a new updated version of something F-150?
A salesman told me 3 weeks ago

I did drive the 2.7 and it got up and went just fine

It will have the 10 spd tranny mated to it, and I have read info like this about the gen 2 2.7:
The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 is completely revised for 2018, and Ford has promised improved stats across the board thanks to changes including new “advanced dual port and direct injection technology, reduced internal friction and improved robustness” as stated in a press release. I was impressed with the first production iteration of this engine myself. Empty-truck acceleration was ample and I ran at about 26 mpg with it driving to the desert and back loaded with camping gear.
