Default F-150 MPG Test

I made a trip from Durham to Emerald Isle, and back today. The aerodynamics of the front of the F-150 (and all pickups) is like a brick. Because of this, MPG will decrease with increased speed. As a test, I set the adaptive cruise control at 65MPH on I-40, and 60MPH on NC-24. As you can see from the results above, reducing speed increased the MPG.

Oh, outstanding! on both counts.

I had similar results when, with the effort of restraint, held the truck to 70 MPH in 6th at 1700 rpm. I also have a bed tonneau.

Thanks for your post.

My MPG was 7 (hand calculated) last weekend towing 7000lbs at 75mph for 6 hours, LOLOL. And then coming home running 80mph not towing I got 17. I'm not sure I could do 60 or 65mph for long distances, but I sure would like the better MPG.

Try it for 100 miles! Hahaha...

It gets easier as you get older.

How is this not common knowledge. This has been tested and proven over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over.

I heard you get your best mileage when you travel from North to South because it's all down hill. Going from South to North - forget about it!

Perhaps you have heard of a new and upcoming search engine named Google.

I wanted to know an actual MPG number for the 5.0L at reduced speed!

Lets see what you can find if it's been tested so many times before as you claim!
