Correct, these are just basic keys with transponder chips so they're good for hide-a-key boxes or just a cheap backup to ensure that you've always got 2 keys so that you can program more yourself.

Thats the same key I got on Ebay as my backup/spare. Works great.

Bought a third fob with blank key on ebay for $50. Took to the local locksmith and had key cut for $10. Dealer programed for no charge when the truck was in for The Works.
