is the extended bumper to bumper coverage on a f-150 worth the price?
I just bought a certified pre-owned 2013 F-150 Lariat with 41k miles for $30,400. The dealership is trying to sell me an extended bumper to bumper warranty out to 140k miles for $2830. worth the price?

Only you can answer that. Is peace of mind for 100K miles worth $2830? I got the extended warranty added into my financing. Its a $50 deductible past the 3 yr/36 month and 5 year 60K powertrain, all extended to 6 years/125K. Also get 2 years maintenance and loaner vehicle during repairs. Cost me an extra $4 a month on my loan, or $240.

Warranties on used trucks are going to be way higher but as stated you have to ask yourself if it is worth the piece of mind to you. You could always save the money for any issues that may come up.

I bought a used '13 GPO. It came with an extended warranty to 100k. At 98K, I had a valve go bad in one of the heads. I was glad I had the extended warranty. I thought it came automatically with a CPO. I'm not sure I'd pay $2830 for it. If they include it free would be a good deal.

I read your post as an added warranty, not CPO. CPO has built in extra warranty with it. |

i got the ford premiumcare esp added on to my deal. it was around $1800 for 5 years/100k miles. this was on a brand new truck though.

Two questions. How many years is it good for? And is it a ford service plan or a third party plan? I don't think it's a terrible deal if it's for 6 or 7 years and it's an official ford service plan. If it's 4 years and 3rd party, probably not so great.

A couple more thoughts... I'm a believer in extended service plans. Seems like lots can happen after 50 or 60k miles. Although they seem expensive up front, it doesn't take many problems to pay themselves off. We have a Sienna we bought an aftermarket warranty on and it has been worth it's weight in gold. I almost hate driving it now that the warranty is expired.
Most people on the forum will tell you they're a waste of money, but I disagree... Shop around though also. If it's a ford ESP, it might be a bit cheaper from Zeigler or flood ford. |
