Extang Trifecta Questions
#21
The oem trifold tonneau is an extang trifecta with a Ford stamp on it. An excellent cover. Extang stands behind their product. I tore the front seal on mine when I took it off. I called them up and they sent a new one straight away for free.. That was only after the clueless dealer shop spent a week trying to figure who made it (they never did) and then said they would have to replace the WHOLE THING to replace the seal.

I did pick up some steel 1"x 6" plates to stick under the rails. I've seen pics of the clamps deforming the aluminum and it was suggested to gorilla tape some of these to the inside of the rail in order to strengthen the clamp points. So I bought 4 of them. Spray painted them black, and bought some 2x sided gorilla tape.
Now when the cover comes in, I'll mark where the clamps attach, stick the metal plates on, and clamp with confidence.

I want the Signature with the Canvas material. However, if the vinyl is better as far as flapping and not collecting pools of water when it rains, then I want the vinyl. But I've heard the Canvas holds up better to heat and the UV from sun than the vinyl.

When I was shopping for my "16 XLT and the few factory trifold covers I saw had different style latches and smaller frame rails than my old trifecta (06 chevy) and I wasn't impressed with them. I guess they could of been dealer add-ons but salesman said they were factory . I bought a new trifecta for my 16 the week I picked it up. Definitely not the same as the so called factory ones.

I'm following this thread really closely. I want the Trifecta 2.0 but torn between the regular and signature.

I really like the extant trifecta covers because they are so easy to remove and re-install when needed and they don't have that extra framework that has to be installed first like some others do.
