Extang tonneau bends bed rail?
New here. Just bought a 16 screw 5.0 XLT. Love the truck.
In the market for a tonneau cover. Like the Bak flip but too rich for my blood. Was about to pull the trigger on a Extang Trifecta 2.0 but then came across some reviews that showed the clamp system literally bending the aluminum bed rails. Has anyone had the same problem?
Might just go w a roll up like I had on my last truck.
Thanks.

No bent rails on mine. Only way that could happen would waaaaaay over tightening the front clamps. The back clamps are spring loaded so shouldn't be a problem. I had the trifecta on my 06 silverado for 11 years and loved it so put one on my 16 xlt. The 2.0 version has deeper front clamps they say work better on the 15+ f150s

I second KWS. I don't see any way they could bend the rails on my Extang Solid Fold 2.

Depending on the quality of the tonneau, some clamps are poorly-positioned or not well-designed and can have put some unnecessary leverage on the thin aluminum bed rail when attempting to clamp. I had to whip up some small spacer blocks to better position the clamps on my $196.00 Spyder vinyl tonneau... other than that it's a great value.
