Extang solid fold with undercover swing cases?
#12
I don't know about the solid fold, but Undercover also says the swing case won't work with the Extang Trifecta, which is partly true. I installed my swing case then modified the handle that holds the trifecta down. All I had to do was trim the handle, as mine was hollow plastic, then the case would fit. To open the tonneau I just pop the latch on the case and that allows enough room to undo the tonneau handle. Very easy and doesn't cause any issues at all.

I had the same issue where I needed a toolbox but had the solid fold. I bought a toolbox that's meant for a flat bed type of truck and mounted it in the front of the bed. The door lays down and the box fits perfectly under the cover. Worked great in my 14 that I transferred it to my 15 when I bought it.

I think I have seen 2 types of handles on these covers. One has the bolt that runs through to the bottom of the handle. The other, like mine, when retracted is hollow through the handle for a couple of inches. That couple of inches is what I cut off. This lets the case lock against the side of the truck without the handle hanging behind it to interfere.
Normal handle without trimming.
Trimmed handle and top os swing case.

Thanks! The Trifecta/eMax have the handle with the bolt all the way through it, so I would have to also shorten the bolt. Looks like you also lost the little tabs that hold the handle into the track when folding the cover -- though that's probably not as important with the solid cover. If they fall out of the soft Trifecta/eMax covers, they can poke a hole in the cover when you fold it up.

Writing in case my solution helps others get their cover to work with a swing case...
I found that the potential interference between the SwingCase and the cover handle can be solved by simply adjusting the handle to be rather "loose", then... When I close the SwingCase, it pushes the handle outward, toward the truck side wall, which tightens the clamping action for the cover. My cover is a different brand (Gator, soft) but the handles and bolt action look similar to those in the photos in this thread. I did not need to trim the handles - that was going to be my next action if the "loose" adjustment trick did not work.
That's just my experience, "your mileage may vary."
