I've not seen any substantiation that it was *** that caused the truck to stall. All kinds of vehicles stall, and vehicles equipped with *** stall. Would love to see some sort of evidence that the *** is the cause.

Not saying you or the OP are wrong mind you, just not seeing the connection of vehicle stall and ***.

In both instances for me the truck was "off" while sitting at a red light, then when I released the brake the truck tried to restart but didn't have the power to do so; I bumped the truck into neutral, and the truck cranked without issue. Now I just turn the system off when I start the truck.

Not disputing your claim regarding the timing of the malfunction, just saying that the *** system may be functioning as designed and some other system failure causing the stall when the *** tries to restart the truck.

If you haven't already found it, another thread is here:

and something similar here:

My experience can be found starting on post #59 of the second thread.

You can probably find more if you look.

My 2018 is currently at the dealership for a similar issue it doesn’t stall but it bumps like if i got hit from behind. Also makes a big thump when it engages. Obviously it didn’t do it this morning when i took it it but luckily i had a video to show them. We shall see the outcome.

I would come to a stop and *** would activate but truck would not restart when I took foot off of brake. Had to put in park to restart. Took to dealer 3 times to fix. 1st time they found TSB 17-2061 and reprogrammed PCM. Took home and had same problem the next day! Returned to dealer ran tests and decided to replace PCM. Week later it stalled again. Returned to dealer DTC codes P06E9 and p164C present. Installed a new starter relay. So far so good, that was Feb. 2018

Within two weeks after I picked up my 2018 Pacifica Limited I found a module that would kill that dam ESS forever.
I have already seen a video of how easy it will be to also kill it in the F150 XLT that I will get in about 2 to 3 months.

definitely a pain to bump the truck back to neutral and recrank the truck.
Same here for me, 2018 with a 5.0, I started a thread here but didn't figure out any solution. Its happened twice and both times I had to put the vehicle in park in a live lane and turn the key to re-start the engine as per what the message on the display instructed. Dealer said he had never heard of this happening.

Default Auto Start/Stop Error

This just happened to me last night. It gave me the warning right after I took off from a stop sign in a parking lot. I literally started moving and was able to make most of my left turn when the engine just shut off and I got
the warning.

As a sidebar to anyone who is wondering, I believe this feature is only on the 2.7 L eco-boost, but if you run in sport mode, it is automatically shut off by default. Any other mode other than sport mode allows the auto start stop feature to function as a primary.

Best thing you can do is shut it off forever!
