The V8 isn't going anywhere. If they ditch the 5.0, they will have something else to replace it. Demand is down, but there are still those who won't buy a truck without a V8.

The majority of buyers will accept the v6. Ones that claim won't can buy elsewhere or accept the v6.
For the mass the v6 is fine, most trucks are urban users now anyway. I want electric, gonna hold on to this
Truck past my usual 3 years to see if electrics hit market from GM or Ford. Good bet GM will hold on the pushrod
V8 till electrics hit. V8 lovers are becoming fewer and fewer. Younger friends don't really care what is under the
hood, so long as runs.

This is the saddest post I've read in a long time.

A V8 should be in the lineup. There is plenty market when you consider all the half tons. If anything Ford's terrible execution on the latest generation is responsible for the drop in sales. Nobody wants a rattling, oil eating POS and Ford is too stupid to realize this is self inflicted.

True story.

I'm wishing I would have gone EcoBoost, that's for sure.

I hope the V8 never goes away. The sound of a V8 with a nice exhaust puts such a huge grin on my face every day. Love my 5.0!

The problem isn’t the V8, it’s fords execution and program. The 5.0 is a good engine but their incentives push the Eco.

Ford never really made a replacement for the 5.4 Triton. A nice torquey V8 with a lot of low end which was a good truck engine. The 6.2L is good and I’m a big advocate but is rather large.

Ford pushes the V6 mainly due to manufacturing savings leading to higher profit. It’s cheaper to have a 3rd party turbo deal than to produce all those extra pistons and valves along with the longer block.

I desperately wanted a v8 and would have bought one in '17. Ford is creating their own demise of the v8. Is it intentional?

The largest Ford dealer in the country, Brandon Ford has 886 F-150’s on the lot. Two 5.0’s.
