Ecoboost or 5.0?

Thanks for all your opinions guys! I was leaning towards the 3.5 but I'm just scared of any issues still occurring with it. A guy from work had an '11 EB and had nothing but issues with it. I'm assuming the '15 will have all those kinks worked out but I wanted to ask an actual owner not a salesman trying to take my money
I have a 5.0 liter in my 2013 Mustang and love the engine. No issue recommending it but my choice in the truck, especially now 2015, 3.5 EB is the top of my list. Plus you got warranty to 60,000 miles / 100,000 kms. If it's causing an issue then trade it out at three or four years down the road.
I'm coming from a 2013 3.5 EB to a 2015 3.5 EB and the new one is different. It may be reporting same HP / TQ numbers but they've made changes. Some of the changes are reported like the modified intake up near the top for example. They moved the intercooler from the precarious location low center from 2011-2014.

I don't think there's a wrong choice here. Drive them both and see what suits you best for your needs.

My Dad has a 13' EB and I loved the BOV/boost sounds. When I bought my 14' I wanted EB, but went with 5.0 ultimately because it was a better deal at that dealership. Now that I have it I love the 5.0 sound above and beyond the EB. Both are great motors, EB will be better mpg but I would choose 5.0 again.

From my perspective they are so close that it's a tough choice. I'm hoping Ford does something awesome for the Raptor and that motor finds its way to the normal F150. It would make my choice much easier.

Here's how I've been reviewing it in my head. If I assume I have the truck 10 years, and drive 15k miles a year, with gas an average of $3/gallon, an EcoBoost that gets an estimated 20 mpg compared to a 5.0 at 18 mpg would save me $2500 in gas. Factor in the $400 premium for the EcoBoost, and my net gain is about $2100. So bottom line for me - do I think the EB will have $2100 more in repairs or maintenance over a 10 year period than the 5.0? That's what I need to decide. Right now I'm leaning with a "yes", and for that reason 5.0, but I'm still not totally decided.
If you factor in premium fuel for the EB like I would run (to max out power and hopefully keep valves cleaner), and the fuel savings become even less.

You can only get so much milk out of a cow. You can only squeeze so much power from an engine..Their is a price to pay. Mpg for one..If you never kick in the turbo's. .mpg will be great..but, if they never kick in..might as well get out and walk. Once the turbos do kick in..bye bye mpg.
If gas does not concern you..and you like to race around. .EB is for you..

For what it's worth I've owned 1 2012 eband 2 2013 eb f150s and until I installed the catch can on the last one I had issues with them. I didn't run my trucks around in boost mode all the time and that was part of the problem . I used cruise control a lot for mpg and each truck had different gears 3:31,3:55 and the last one had 3:73 and none of them got as good of gas Milage as my 2014 and 2015 f150s with the 5.0.I do miss the eb power but with issues and Milage for me 5.0 is the way to go!!
