I use it in my motorcycle helmet as well, you can hear more but the quality is the same. Works the same in the truck. OP was right in saying that this is an improvement.

Ok, so it wasn't just me. You guys nailed it. I don't know why, but the bass and mid response changes when you turn it to 7. The stereo went from completely flat and lifeless at lower volumes to actually having something there.
Like I said, it isn't going to blow your hair back, but until the budget allows for aftermarket it is a marked improvement.

Good info fellas. Gonna try this. I also have the speakers set to "Driver" and I think it sounds better than "All passengers". I even sat in different seats in the cab to test this.

My "cheap" fix is simply to boost treble, midrange, base to nearly the top end....the stock sound is crisp, clear and particularly good with digital recordings streamed or played from SD card, etc.

I've got the bass one down from the most the mid at -1, and the treble at +1. SCV at 7 and DSP to all seats. Bal/Fade centered.
