Default Dust in Bed...Dealer says box made with panels?

Hey guys just had a quick question. I have a 2017 screw and LOVE IT!! recently put a BAK MX4 on it and it has the top in liner. Well yesterday we went on some very dusty roads and the box looked like i left eh tailgate down. So when i got back in town i stoped buy the dealership to buy tailgate seal figuring that would help but the guy at the dealership said that the tailgate is only 20% of the problem where dust infiltrates and that 80% comes from the seems at the panels the box is made of.

Does this sound right...shouldn't the box liner keep a bit of that out?

If this is right i assume a lineX is my only solution?

Thanks in advance guys.

Above is correct. Depending on how wide the gaps are, the spray in Line-X may or may not seal them completely.

I'm guessing this is your first pickup? The beds are designed to drain water, wash out dirt, etc. They aren't airtight.

Had a few pickups before but guess I didn't pay attention as I didn't have the need for a large "Trunk" lol. With 2 Kids the box is now used for much more than my toys so I got the MX4 which is great and I notices the dust. Not a big deal as everything will stay dry it just sounded weird when the dealer told me. Wanted to check with the experts here

Have a great day everyone.

Put the tailgate seal on and try it out. Im thinking his 80/20 estimate may be a little bit off.

A tailgate seal will help. Not perfect, but it does help with the dust intake.

rear fender pants might also help with dirt kicked up against the bottom from the tires. and the tailgate seal.

(fender liners - whatever they market them as - I think husky makes a set)

This is why I installed a bed rug and tailgate seal.
My bed is clean, dry and no dust.

"...bed rug and tailgate seal..."

This was my solution, but also needed to save the knees!

You're going to love the bedrug!
I bought both off Amazon of all places as they had cheapest price at the time.
