Driver rear door hard to shut
I have brought my truck in for this and they said the tsb said to lube the door wich they did and would get better over time. It's been 7 months now and no better. You have to slam the door to get it to close all the way. I would like to just fix it myself. Door looks like it's aligned great so what's the problem?

I have the same problem. I put rem oil on mine. It helped a little.

Improve over time?

Personally I get p*ssed when I hear that reply! It's like mileage, if yours isn't good and you have a dealer check it, you get same response, it will break in and improve over time, that's all BS! If it doesn't work today, it's not going to fix itself next month. Obviously there is a problem with your door and dealer can't or won't fix, suggest try again or another dealer. They have some good dealers out their, so good luck. Having to SLAM your door to get it to close properly is a a problem, or not normal. I bet if you walked into the dealer and slammed their door for it to close, they wouldn't think it's OK? The other response you may get is that it's a "normal characteristic " of these 2015 trucks! Hope you don't get that one. It's obvious that working with aluminum and fitting up these doors and then the seals are the problem. Sounds like one or the other is not sized correctly, that's why you have to slam to compress the seal, provided alignment is correct. Not that it will help those who already have new trucks, but perhaps FORD can have more success with the Quality and workmanship on 2016 builds? |
I too have an issue with this door. I noticed all of the doors have to be closed a little "harder" than my 2010 truck. The rear left is constantly an issue. Add to it, either my 10 or 12 year old use that door, it always 2-3 attempts to get it closed. I figured the issue was from the multiple repairs I have had for that door - painted 3 times now... The truck goes in for another repair later this month, hoping they can get it working properly.

had the same problem on my 15' Platinum. The dealer replaced the weatherstripping on the upper left side of the door and that fixed the issue. Hopefully this helps you out.

Having same issue....thought it was me.... Did they have a TSB or did they just replace with same part number.....maybe a batch of stripping was a little "fat" for a while..... Do you happen to have part numbers from service order....that might help. |
Same issue here, but I've become used to having to shut that door harder than the rest. It doesn't bother me much. My alignment is near perfect, no wind noise, etc... I wouldn't want an attempted fix to possibly create another issue or two.

My Platinum does the exact same thing, takes a little more umph to close the rear driver door. Someone in another thread mentioned it was because the truck was more air tight. I'm not saying that it isn't but then all the doors should require just as much effort to close than just this one. I guess I'll add this to my list of items for the dealer to check when I take it in.
