Pulled up to the dealership in my 90 Miata. Got out wearing an old Nine Inch Nails shirt, cargo shorts, and flip flops. Went to 5 different dealerships (shopping the Silverado/Tundra as well), out of those 5 only got two people to talk to me. One was rather brisk, didn't want to help me at all until I did paperwork to see if I could afford the truck (was already pre-qualified for the truck plus some, but didn't tell them that). The other was very, very helpful. In the end though he wasn't able to find the truck I wanted, so I flew to Houston from Tampa for the one I ended up with. BUT....the dealership that was the most helpful has earned by business for all future purchases and service.

We drove my beater when we went to buy ours. I was wearing jeans with holes and a t-shirt. People didn't take us seriously at a couple of the dealerships...and we didn't buy from them. I dress nicely for work everyday...but when I get home, it's sweats/shorts and a t-shirt. We bought a Lariat first...sold that and traded for a Platinum. But I didn't tell anyone I had that truck until I knew they had something I wanted. Pretty sad how picky dealerships have become with helping people.

Birthday suit for me-no one ignores me when I wear that .
In all seriousness, I wear jeans and a tshirt most times. It helps that I have gone to the same dealer for 5 vehicles in a row now-so they know me. But, with that said, one of the best things about living in Alaska is that people typically wont judge you by how you look. Some of the most well to do people in the state look like they are homeless-oil/minerals/etc make for some wealthy blue collar workers.
