Question Door Lights

I have a small red lens on the lower left of my driver and passenger doors.

Do those light up?

If they do I haven't found anything in the manual to turn them on

Reflectors. They probably aren't even original... mine didn't come with reflectors on the doors, but I added them.

It would be cool if someone decided to illuminate them though. I've got an idea, just too lazy to run the wiring.

Used to be pretty common.

If I recall, doors would have a spring loaded actuator on the hinge side that completed the circuit when the door opened.

Yes it was. I was going to mention that as a FYI. Can't recall what vehicle it was, but I remember that light had a clear section, and when door was opened, it acted like a modern day piddle light.

On our newer trucks, the switch is inside the latch mechanism? I never thought about looking before at the latch when I had my door trim off. If so, seems like it would be pretty easy to run a feed down to an LED for that lens. I'd have to take things apart, "again", to see. But you started this, you look.
