I have tried to search for others that have similar issues as me on the search feature on the site returned too many unrelated threads and I didn't know how to narrow it down. I have been in two F150s (post 2015 model year) that have both had the door keypad stop working and the driver side window would only roll down 2/3 of the way. I took apart the door and found that the wire for the keypad had fallen out of place and was preventing the window from rolling down. (see image)
The force from the window also pulled one of the wires out of the keypad. See image
This happened on two vehicles already that I have been around so I am guessing this is a common issue. I don't know how the wiring should have been routed originally but it looks like one of the two push-pins / Christmas tree retainers failed or was designed poorly and was in a bad spot or wouldn't hold because it wasn't properly located when I took the door apart and found it in the way as shown above.
I also found that after I fixed the wire that was in the way the window still wouldn't roll down; it wouldn't go all the way down even when I held the button down! I found out that I had to send a request to the driver side door module to relearn end stops; that fixed the window end stops. I thought I would share this in case others have the same issues.
I have installed the OEM keypads on trucks that didn't have them before. You have to take care to install the wiring harness exactly like it says or the window will definitely rip them out. There are specific holes where the wiring harness holders are supposed to pop into place. Were these installed after the fact?
The original poster's issue with the chord ripping out never happened to me. I just figured I would add my issues with the keypad occasionally. It would make a different click noise after entering the code and nothing would open. Then wait a minute and works fine. Mine are factory installed.
First I've heard about this. Could it be related to aftermarket work that required removing the inside door panels and improper reinstallation?
He could have had the door lock recall done and the dealer didn't put the harness back right. This harness runs really close and around the door handle as well.
