I parked mine in a parking lot and went in and got a cup of coffe and then back out and this happened, so the factory bars didnt help me at all, well I guess it did help around the door. turned out to be $2744 to get it repaired.

Looks like much more than a door ding, too bad, I feel for you. You can never catch these people.

I have had good luck with the run-of-the-mill parking lot door dings. Occasionally I see a mark on the side, which appears to be where a door or other object banged my truck, but no dent...maybe I've just been lucky as to the severity of the hit, but I also suspect that the aluminum body is more resistant to dings since it aluminum is more brittle in nature.

After I got over being pissed, which was more than a day or two, I took it over to a shop a friend of mine recommended and they took care of me. The good thing is that they have USAA and enterprise car rental all in one place.

I'm my own worst enemy. I smashed my door against a yellow pole in a parking lot recently. I mean smashed. I can't believe it didn't leave a ding. Or maybe I'm just too worried to look closer

throw some pocket fender flares on. Theyll be so thick you wont even notice it. Then hammer that running board cap on and tap it with a screw. Youll never know it happened

To mitigate any damage from dip chets I always park on an end spot as far away as possible and as close to the curb as possible to leave plenty of room. If the parking lot is full and given a choice between an end spot on the adjacent cars driver side or another spot next to the other cars passenger side then pick the passenger side one to increase your odds in case the car next to you is only the driver with no passengers.

One word of caution, if there are lawn crews anywhere in site don't choose an end spot with grass or foliage next to you as your sure to get a nice spray of rocks on your truck from the edger or a good whack on the body from a blower or other yard tool.

One thing that made me a believer is the dentless repair process. Impressive and really works even on nasty dents if the tech is good.

Oh yeah! One more thing, if there is a mini-van anywhere within a five mile radius keep driving until you get home and wait another day until the coast is clear. Simply looking in the same direction at a minivan with those little snotty nosed b@$tard$ running around in there puts dents on my car. LOL!
