Door Dings
I recently bought a 2016 XLT, I had the nerf bar steps taken off today and the amp-research steps put on. The old bars would stop a door from hitting mine and I am just curious how the sides of these trucks hold up to door dings and grocery carts etc.?

They ding just as easily as anything else.

Ive spent $150 to have 2 dings taken out WITH the normal sidesteps on. They help but the it's not invincible. Nothing can stop a determined mom in a Sienna minivan at the grocery store from dinging your doors...nothing!!!

In my experience, not very well against shopping carts. Someone let one go into the side of ours and left one heck of a dent. It was right above the inner brace and stretched the metal pretty good. I'm partially convinced they backed up and hit it again.
Having said that, some auto magazine did an article where they purposely dented the side of the bed on their aluminum f150 to see what it would cost to fix it. If you watch the video it looks like it took the first hit very well.
****EDIT*****

Nope. Some idiot in a CRV parked next to me instead of all the good spots I left for her.
Normal Strategy:
1) park on the end of a row,
2) park next to the handicapped spots and shade to that side to create extra room,
3) at work, I can park between to large columns,
4) park at least five spots away from everyone else.

This is also why I park as far away from anyone and take the inconvenient spots as much as possible. I hate door dings... I have the retractable steps and if I HAVE to park next to people I always set them to stay "OUT" when parked.
