Should be just in the Apple CarPlay settings, or one of the setup menus, it's not that hard to find.

I keep mine turned off most of the time but lately I have found it handy for some things. One thing I don't like is the phone signal strength isn't showing on right side the home screen anymore when CP is enabled, but one thing I do like when it is enabled is that I can listen to and answer text messages with voice commands while I'm driving.

The signal strength should be on the left side underneath the time.

Yes it just shows up on the CP screen now, however I keep my screen on the regular home screen as I prefer it to the CP screen, and with CP enabled all that shows up where the phone signal strength is Apple CarPlay Settings.
