I did a bit of research on this - from what I found this is only if you have an android phone, in which case Apple CarPlay isn't an option in the first place.

Huh? Not true... the Ford+Alexa app is in the Apple App store as well as the Google Play store.

The Android version allows bluetooth connection. The Apple version requires USB.

Thanks - the article I was reading made it sound like you needed an android device. I'll check it out then.

ps. your truck looks a lot like mine - white truck, white canopy :-)

I have no issues with Apple CarPlay. I don’t have factory nav so using my phone is perfect. But I will be downloading the Alexa app and trying it out, already have Prime. Thanks

Not sure I fully understand the advantage. Is it just to use the factory nav? If you have the upgraded sync system I think you get car play and android integration as part of it. No line item cost for car play.

Personally, I think car play works well. Only thing I’d like to see is wireless support and the ability to use Google maps instead of Apple maps. Google is much better IMHO.

If you've got other things working with Alexa, like home control, or custom skills (if you're into that stuff) it's a game changer. For instance.... I can interact with many, many things with Alexa currently. Now, I can do all of that from my truck with my voice. That's cool.

I was previously thinking of porting things to Google Home. Now I don't have to.

If you're a Canadian user Ford + Alexa won't show up in your apps store. Same with iTunes since with Apples quest to make iTunes less user friendly with each release they've disabled app sync within iTunes.

Thank you. I thought I was losing it looking all over the place for this app for use in Canada. I have to say I really think Ford has completely botched their Apple Car Play integration. I rent a ton of vehicles all over the world and am shocked how easy most of them work. Seamless and no back and forth from factory to CarPlay unlike my new 2018. Very disappointed with my "upgrade" to my 2018 and this is one of the reasons. Funny enough the loss of ambient lighting colour control is another...
