Default It Doesn't Need an Engine

I recently got the chance to diagnose and save an '17 F150 owner $9k from buying a new engine. He had previously brought the truck to two different shops. In the video I show the steps to diagnose the dreaded engine rattle/tick/clacking noise. I really hope it helps some of you guys out and prevents anyone from being ripped off. Enjoy the video and let me know what you guys think about how close the owner was to getting ripped off. Happy holidays and thanks for your support! -Glen (Ozz)

Glen, thanks for the video.

I have the 5.0 but haven't noticed any noise yet. But when / if I do in the future I'll have your video on file.

You are wrong. The catch can saved the engine from being replaced! Duh!

Good job diagnosing the issue, and saving your customer a lot of money. My ‘15 has the same problem. I went through a similar situation diagnosing what I initially thought might have been a rod bearing going out. After some additional testing (I found if I put it in sport mode and cycled the rpm’s through 1500 while driving I could make it rattle like crazy), I was able to determine it was the CMCV (charge motion control valve) system. 50000 miles later and it’s never got any worse and Ive just learned to live with it knowing it isn’t a base engine issue.
