does your 10 speed always skip 2nd?
the 10 speed in my truck only uses 2nd gear if the truck is in tow haul. Its the most annoying thing about my transmission. 3rd is too much gear so when the truck goes from 1st to 3rd it can lunge forward. this happens if your in a parking lot sometimes. I also get a harsh 3rd gear shift on cold start up. I said it before and I will say it again. the 10 speed is not an upgrade over the old 6 speed.

According to the forum members in the know they all 1-3-5-6-7-8-9-10 (I think) but I can never tell that is skips them.
When I put it in Sport mode I can tell it goes 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 because the RPM's are pushing 3K and it doesn't want to go into the higher gears.
It also makes the MPG gauge go way down in the Sport mode so I don't use it.
I love being able to go from 0-75 MPH ( the speed limit) without ever going over 2,000 RPM's and not having to feel the transmission shifting.

Mine also will lunge during the shift from 1-3 especially in the morning when leaving the house after sitting overnight. That is my only gripe about the 10spd, love it otherwise!

Wouldn't that make it a 9 speed? You could put 10 speeds on the dash for a 6 speed if you always skip 2, 4, 6 and 8.

Does it only lunge when the truck is cold. I find my 6 speed needs a minute or so in the morning before it smooths out, if I let it finish its high idle warm up it runs perfect.

If you put it in Sport Mode then you would get all 10 of them. In the Tow/Haul Mode it locks out the 8-9-10 (IIRC) since you don't need overdrive when towing. I'm not sure what the We/Snow mode or the EcoSelect mode does since mine is a 2017.

My 2011 scab 3.5 would seem to "freewheel" and finally slam into gear on cold mornings rolling up to the stop sign at the corner. It would sometimes almost feel like being rear-ended, it was that bad. After it warmed up, it was fine. Don't recall which gear it was going into - I had gear display off most of the time.
With this new 10spd - I never get that slam in the morning. For the most part, all shifts have been smooth with few exceptions.
I did get a jolt once when "dropping the hammer" while in a higher gear, but I don't recall what gear I was in at the time. I'll pay more attention and see if I get any pattern, but from my experience, this new transmission is much better.

As mentioned above my 2013 with the 6 speed did the same "lunge" from 1 to 2 when cold so a 1 to 3 lunge when cold seems pretty normal.
