Default Does service department care where you bought it?

With my limited experience with service advisors, I think that I'm made more welcome at the dealership in my home town than the one where I bought my truck. I have a theory that if the service department treats me like royalty maybe I'll try buying from them the next time.

I've had very good experiences with my local dship regarding service. They don't seem to care that I don't buy all my Ford vehicles from them. They've handled warranty claims in the same way, which is what I would expect. I did not buy 2 of my past 3 trucks from them. However, they are always considered, but they couldn't make the deal. They also handle my Ford Flex company car, so they get good business from me and I've maintained friendly relations with them through two different service writers over the years. Money is money, no matter who hands it to you.

Service business is a completely separate thing from sales. Most dealerships are more than happy to get service business regardless of where you purchased the vehicle.

My local dealer's sales are crap. They jack prices, add dealer fees, add dealer installed items nobody wants, charge "market adjustment" fees, and have take it or leave it attitudes. I'll never buy new from any of them. Their service departments are pretty much separate entities. They don't care where you purchased from and rely heavily on positive customer reviews and surveys for financial reward.

Eh, they're two separate cost centers. They don't really give too many fscks about the other. That said, I find that by doing business with the same dealer, I do tend to get benefits like loan vehicles (for instance, this last time when they replaced the APIM, I got a brand new 2019 F250 4x4 loaded XLT diesel), etc.

Mine gives me a loaner vehicle for warranty work because I bought it from them.

Yrs ago purchasing dealer gave me free oil changes and loaner.

But oil changes were poorly done and getting the loaner each time was like pulling teeth.

So I never went back.

Its just something they tease you with at time of sale IMO.

Like others have said, it's 2 separate profit centers.

Buy where you get the lowest price.

Service where they do the work right.

Rarely is it the same place.

The old axiom is that the sales department sells you the first vehicle and the service department sell you the next ones.
