Does FX4 have any usage value if I'm never going off-road?

Default Does FX4 have any usage value if I'm never going off-road?

I'm basically looking to buy a luxury suv that happens to have some hauling capacity. I'll never go off-road, but some configurations have the package, so I'm wondering if there's any value on road for the off-road package.

Also would the FX4 actually make on road driving worse somehow, or world there be no noticable difference. I assume there's a toggle on and off, right?

If you have a 4 X 4 and don't offroad, you'll still see a benefit in severe weather (torrential rain, roadway surface flooding) and definitely in snowy roadway conditions.

4x4 sure, but having theFX4 off-road package wouldn't provide any more benefit in bad weather conditions, would it?

Short answer: no use. FX4 basically gets you skid plates for your undercarriage to protect it when offroading and hill descent control. I think it also comes with some beefier shocks and true all terrain tires. Think louder and rougher ride on the highway. If you decide you want hill descent control, you can buy the switch online for under $10 and enable it with Forscan, like I did with my Lariat. My 2 cents. I'm sure others will disagree.

For 99% of what you do, the answer is NO. However, my skid plates on my last FX4 saved my undercarriage. A piece concrete was in the middle of the interstate at night, by the time I realized it, it was too late & ran it over with worst banging sound I've ever heard. When inspecting later, it smashed the front plate halfway in & dented my tank skid plate. I was thankful I had them at that moment.

I don't disagree at all with your reasoning. Except that the FX4 has the same crappy rear shocks as all the others. I have a FX4 and changed out rear shocks long ago. The tires aren't any different either from a 4x4. Skid plates, sure and the $10 HDC switch too lol. If you don't plan on any offroading skip the FX4 option. I plan on skipping that option on my next one.

No but it may help resale. The package is so cheap with discounts I wouldn't worry about having or not having it. My FX4 truck is just a quiet/smooth riding as my last non FX4 truck. I didn't seek it out, just happened to buy one with the package.

:-|t ***.

My bad. I did not know the FX4 did not include a transfer case and front drive.

Please, carry on.
