Does it only happen under acceleration?
If mine is doing it at a steady speed it is very hard to detect. Under acceleration you can't miss it. Example: Trans in sport mode, transfer case in 4A, manually put it in 4th gear, hold 40mph then give it about half throttle. It'll start missing very noticeably and severely immediately. If I do the same thing with trans in normal mode, transfer case in 2H, it is not as bad but still noticeable. Weird!

Maybe I need a catch can or the 1/16" hole drilled. But first I'm gonna let Ford take care of it since it is new and under warranty. If they can't fix it maybe I can talk them into unscrewing the antenna and then driving a new truck under it. One with the 5.0L.

2017 here. Mine has a surge, only seems to happen in 5th or higher. Trans will shift then within a second I get and in and out surge (on/off/on/off) until it shifts again and it does it all the way until 10th. It's really annoying. Truck has 26k. I only run 87. Seems crazy to me that I would need to change plugs already or be required to run 93 when Ford says it will run 87 just fine. It's really noticable now that I have a catback and I can hear it. I'm not pulling or hauling anything, just normal city driving...I'm starting to wonder if the intercooler condinsation issue still exists on the MK2 3.5 EB. It's really humid out and it seems to be worse now. I guess I need to trace the intercooler lines and make sure everything is attached correctly. Also noticed that with an aftermarket intake I rarely hear the bov...wonder if there is an issue with that.

I Never hear the BOV either with a stock intake.

Just trying to follow what you are saying. When you say "manually put it in 4th gear, hold 40mph then give it about half throttle.", this tells me you put the gear shifter in "M", put the truck in 4th, and then press throttle half down. If this is correct, you are lugging the engine which is why you feel a shudder. Normally, if you have the gear shift in D, and you push down half throttle, the transmission will downshift, increasing your RPMs and you go faster. When you do this in "M", you do not allow the transmission to downshift.

Depending on his tire size and rear end that's around 1800 rpms. I wouldn't really call that lugging the engine at all. I'd call sub 1400 lugging, but not 1800.

You are correct that the tranny is in "M" and I'm holding 4th gear.
It has a 3.55 rear end and stock 27555R20 tires.
And a 10 speed tranny. I think all 2018"s and probably 2017"s with the 3.5L EB have the10 speed. Are you thinking I've got a 6 speed?
Anyhow, with my truck the tach reads 2700 RPM at 40 MPH in 4th gear. It shouldn't be considered bogged down at that RPM.

Yesterday I tried to show my wife what it was doing and it ran nearly perfect such that she couldn't tell.
Today it put up quite a fuss using the above scenario. But, when I started from a stop, tranny in "M", and wound out each gear to 5500 RPM, it never faltered.

Yup sorry I was thinking of the 6th speed as that's what I have.

This past weekend I rented an 18 3.5 10 speed and even though I didn't spend a lot of time with it the driveablity seemed to be flawless compared to my current F150. I know there's a bunch of threads about this issue, but no one ever talks about how smooth their ecoboost is while accelerating, which makes me wonder if everyone's truck has some sort of shudder under acceleration. I'm almost ready to get an 18 with the 5.0 cause how much it bothers me.
I've had TWO -- and NO

This is exactly what mine is doing and has been really noticeable lately. 3rd gear will do it when the converter locks and then almost every shift after that. Feels like you are pushing the throttle in and out real fast several times. It's getting bad enough that sometimes I can feel it cruising in 10th gear although it is very slight. My truck was just in for warranty a couple months ago and I made them aware of this issue and they said couldn't replicate the problem, I'll be taking it back soon.
