Does the big rubber chin under the front bumper serve any functional purpose?
Is it for aesthestics? Or does it have an airflow or an obstacle avoidance purpose? Do some remove it?

I removed it and made a 350 mile trip, relatively flat, and got about 17.5 mpg....decided to put it on for the return trip and averaged 19.5 mpg...obviously there are some variables that come into play but i ran about 85 the whole way so I have to think that thing helped out some. Looks better without it but for 2 mpg I'll leave it on. Gonna experiment again on the same trip in a few weeks and see if anything differs.

1. It's called an air dam.
2. It serves for aerodynamics.
3. Can be removed (manual even suggest to remove if clearance is an issue).
4. I took mine off and had no difference in noise or mpg.
Edit: iPhone autocorrect

I was thinking that it is on there mostly to improve fuel economy/ I guess you proved the point.
By the way, I don't think it looks bad.

Some of the 2mpg could have come from different fueling stations or head/tailwind or slight elevation change, that's why i'm gonna experiment again in a few weeks and see if I get the same results, but i do just leave the cruise on 85 as much as i can. The slower you generally drive the less it'll affect it. I was going to just trim it like others have done and looks awesome, but again it'll prob lower the mpg just slightly.

Same question for years, same answers. Non-scientific tests will prove nothing. Saves mileage.

It's flexible.....I've buffed it on rocks and its still there.
