It's quite clear that Ford doesn't give a sh*t about this issue. Quality is NOT job one anymore.

Both driver side and passenger side should be just out of flush, slightly more at the bottom.

This is according to the body panel and body gap guide for collision repair.

Flush = more chance of wind noise.

It's called shingling.

Problem has been some are way more than what it called for.

Is the same for the fender - door seam? I posted in a separate thread, but both of my fenders sit out away from the doors. It's a noticeable gap, and I really dislike it. Also hoping Ford does the right thing and fixes it for me.

what's wrong? feathering of body panels has been used for years, kinda like a rocket narrow in the front the the panels feather over each other as the rocket get wider.

if you have good weather stripping there is nothing to worry about.

Now, I could understand that on a very subtle level, Iike a millimeter or two of feathering... But I can get my fingertips in that gap, which can't be normal. Looking at any other vehicle on the road and I don't see that kind of gap.

If your getting your finger tips in there then that is way too much. Take to dealer and let them adjust the door.

the pictures look as if a thumbnail coul barley fit between each panel.

don't look a driving trucks go to dealerships and measure the gaps, please note chevys are square so the measurement may be backwards.

the most perfectly aligned panels i have seen are on the little cars, thay are low and don't really need the rocket effect. on high end super cars they are designed like a rocket that's why the back end is so wide.

look at your mirror gap (nearest the window) that's a larger gap then the body panels, via your pictures.

Yes, all panels.

Ford wont fix it, it's supposed to be that way and yes it's hard to make perfect for the whole seam.

I noticed this on my truck, did some research, talked to body guys and it's supposed to be there.

Some trucks have larger gaps than others but I guarantee it's with-in spec or they would repair.
