I have a 2018 w/5.0 and I have left it running while waiting to p/u Blaze Pizza and with my Boxer riding along on errands. It doesn't shut off. The nice part about the 2018's is they are Secure Idle enabled at the factory now.

Great question, got me curious too.

So I Googled "Ford secure ide" and got 5,320,000 results.

Unfortunately this forum prevents me from cutting and pasting all the results here due to character limits so you will have to look it up yourself.

Life can be so hard sometimes.

Secure Idle is a FORScan option pre 2018. On 2018+ it is factory enabled. It means you can leave the vehicle running and exit with the secure fob and the vehicle cannot be put in any gear without the key present

Chuck, do you actually read this forum?

All vehicles are now being made with Auto Engine Off, because morons forget to push the Off button when they park them.

In addition, Secure Idle allows said idiot to leave it running at a store, and not have someone drive it away, because idiots were having their trucks stolen.

Of course emergency workers that did this are not idiots, it's the guy who leaves their kids in a running vehicle while running in the store.

You can pull the 2018 manual from owner.ford.com and read about all these features...

i thought on ANY year you had to have the key fob near to drive it, in other words even a 2013 push button, leave it running and take the fob and if someone try’s to steal it they can’t because you have the fob.. but that’s not true ?

Pre 2018, you can drive without a fob but once you turn it off it needs the fob to start.

I had to enable this using FORScan on my 2015 F150. My wife's Escape will still do it.

ahh must be another brand of car I was thinking of. So will the fob still allow you to lock the car while running or do you have to use the key pad
