If its an XLT, it sounds like the electric motor is not holding. It is bolted directly on the lumbar spring setup in the seat and a cable runs through it.

Sounds like you have leather seats which sounds like are air bladders for the lumbar. (A leaking air bladder would explain your experience of the lumbar not staying engaged).

The subject of this thread is cloth seats lumbar operated by a cable/spring/motor mechanism. If you think about it, this design won't fail by not staying engaged which you are experiencing.

For leather seats with lumbar air bladders that deflate, go visit/post at this thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/drive...roblem-317387/

Perhaps you should to adjust " your thread title" so members will know before they click?

My opinion, Ford ruined the seats on the new trucks! Had they just improved upon the prior years seats design incorporating new features, everyone would have been happy!

But no subsequent edits are allowed to the thread title ... only to a post title.

And even then, edits to a post/post title have a time limit.

Every forum has their board configured differently.

You sound P.O. for some reason that you keep re-posting (ranting).

Default Driver's Seat Lumbar

Hi ChicagoJim.

Just a quick thanks for your article on the lumbar issue!!

I have owned my new 2015 F150 XLT FX4 for 2 weeks. During test drives I didn't detect the lumbar issue. I "should have" picked up on it because seat comfort and driving position have always been issues for me and I rarely find a vehicle that 'fits' me nicely. Given that the new F150 ticks SO MANY of the desired boxes for me...I guess I simply overlooked the lumbar issue. Overall the truck is SO NICE!!

However, to date I have not been able to find a comfortable driver's seat position! I soon realized the culprit was the aggressive lumbar position. Yes....it will not relax enough.

The lumbar issue has become a real sore point (pun intended) for me. I've been thinking about joining this Forum (for general information and insight about my new truck)...but the lumbar issue motivated me to join now.

So, just this morning I joined the forum and immediately searched for entries on the lumbar issue - and I found your article.

I have two 5-hour journeys coming up this weekend, so I'm going to make the modification you describe. I will let you know the results.

Thanks again ChicagoJim.

I noticed this same thing test driving a Platinum last week. Thought it was just me but obviously not. So are the leather seats a different system then the cloth regarding the cable? I noticed above talking about air bladder's however I kept fiddling with the seat trying to reduce lumbar and it wouldn't happen.

I would lie to know the answer to that too, is the cloth internals different than the leathers? Hard to see why it would be, does anybody know?

Smile Agressive Lumbar in Cloth Seats

Hi ChicagoJim.

This follows my comment earlier today. I have now conducted the 'opeartion' to disconnect the mechanical lumbar cable in the driver's seat...and I disconnected the one in the passenger seat too.

The operation went smoothly (a few swear words here and there)...but I got it done. I can already tell SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Thanks again for the tutorial.

Glad I could help. This board and members have been very helpful to me too.
