Just a side note here, I had horrible back pain after the first 1000 miles.
I tried the many methods people have come up with for fixing this lumbar issue, but that was never the cause of my issues. I came to find out that it was actually merely due to having a thin laptop in my back seat pocket. I don't know about the other seats, but the 10 way massaging seat simply destroys your back when it has anything in the seat pocket.
I now have 20000 miles of extreme comfort under my belt in the new Platinum; these are the most comfortable vehicle seats I've ever had, as long as nothing is in the seat pocket.

I noticed my back starts hurting when sitting in both front seats. We go from Ohio to New York about 4 times a year and I used to be able to drive it all myself, this last trip in our new F 150 XLT I made it all the way there and about half way back home, stopped to eat and asked the wife to finish the drive and not long sitting in the passenger seat my back started hurting again, now if I could do what you have explained to both seats sounds like that would fix it for me.

OP - the title should be Fords overly aggressive vehicle weight reduction! Causing painful back and leg pain!
My opinion, Ford ruined the seats on the new trucks! Had they just improved upon the prior years seats design incorporating new features, everyone would have been happy!

But no subsequent edits are allowed to the thread title ... only to a post title.
And even then, edits to a post/post title have a time limit.
Every forum has their board configured differently.

Give it a try... you have XLT cloth seats.... the 7 steps should work on both left and right seats.
If for some reason you don't like the fix (there have been no complaints yet with the fix) my 7 step procedure is easily reversible.
In fact it is easier to reverse it than do it in the first place. To reverse/undo, all you need to do is line-up the white plastic elbow with the wire hoop and hit the lumbar button -- the lumbar motor will then reinstall the white plastic elbow into the wire hoop for you).

Ok so i have been driving around without the lumbar attached as detailed in this thread. After driving for 200kms coming back from camp I felt uncomfortable in the lower back. Needed some lumbar. So today I added some length to the stock setup. I forgot to take pics but I will eventually do the passenger side as well. This gives it full relaxed position to approx mid position than the stock setup which is way more than I would ever want.
I REMOVED the original metal loop that the plastic tab fits in. Tied a zip tie (black industrial grade) to the seat frame where the loop would normally go and back to the metal loop. Reattached the white plastic cable tab to the original metal loop which has been extended from the zip tie to its original position. After some adjustments to the length of the zip tie I found my sweet spot. Now I can go fully relaxed and with the seat button still get some lumbar.... If I ever I think of it I will post pics of the passenger side when I do it. Youll need 2 zipties. One to attach the other ziptie to the metal loop so it does not fall out.

My problem is I always think of taking pics after everything is installed. My schedule is all over so I litteraly found a 1/2hr in between dropping the kids off at daycare and going to work to do this mod this morning. But yes Ill get pics. Not sure when as hunting season is starting.... driving and towing for the 7hr drive to moose hunting spot next week so I needed my seat to be good.
FYI it is best to have both sides unzipped and the back seat flap pulled over the headrest pins (remove head rest, insert seat elastics reinstall headrest) in order the have room to access that plastic tab where the cable connects.

Wait, so all of you think the lumbar is too much?! Hell my lumbar won't stay engaged! Give it 5 minutes and it goes back into the seat and I don't have lumbar anymore.... Wth Ford. My problem isn't lower back but more my *** and hamstrings in these seats. Something about them just isn't as comfortable as my old 06 silverado... Maybe I just need to break them in but I find them stiff as a board
