You just save my back! I just applied your hack this evening. Removed the factory hanger and using it as a template I added about a half of an inch extra length. Installed and tested it tonight briefly. It gives the best of both worlds. Relaxes the lumbar and keeps the ability make adjustments. Will report back if I find any negatives.

Thank you!

Default Thank you!!!!

This is my 2nd post on this forum. 1st being pics of my rig of course. I've had my 18 Super crew for 2 weeks and have played with the seat controls non stop every time I drive it and could not get comfortable until I came across this thread. What do you think happened as soon as I got home. Lol... only issue I had was disconnecting the cable. Guess my hands are a bit to big and I couldn't get the needle nose on it to squeeze the little clips so I said forget it and just cut the cable with a pair of side cutters. Problem solved. Of course I can't reconnect it without ordering a new cable but who cares. The lumbar was so bad I couldn't stand driving it unless it was to the corner store 2 miles down the road. It is so much better now. Feels like the seat embraces me now instead of feeling like a knee was in my lower back. Thanks guys. Great write up.

Three years later and Ford still has not corrected this with a slightly longer cable. SMH.

doesn't make much sense, but what in this world does. Seems to me it's been an obvious documented complaint by many many F150 owners. Easy enough fix though and my hr commute to work was much more comfortable.

Has anyone done this with the massaging seats? Do they still work?

Thanks!

This really is pretty easy to do and as he says a lot easier to reverse should anyone decide to put it back to normal
I can confirm that this will work on leather seats. I have a 2018 Lariat 502a and just did this. Night and day. The lumbar has bothered me since day one.

Thanks to the OP for the write up.

Bad news for those with Platinums looking to do this mod, I don't see anyway to do it. I have my seats open right now and can't see any way to loosen up the lumbar. I'm gonna get some pics and post in a bit if they come out. Basically the lumbar is the air bladders and there's no mechanical cable like on the lower trims. Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed.

Here's a pic of the Platinum seats...

Anyone see a way to adjust them that I'm missing please let me know, I'd love to be able to relax this a little.

You mention air bladders, as in small side balloons operated by the lumbar adjustment button?

I’ve only my truck about a month but quickly realized the lumbar support hits my back 4-6” too high. Hopefully this will help. Or maybe there’s something else that could be modified?
