Default Discovered this after repair

Last Wednesday while the dealership was installing a level kit on my 18 Lariat crew 4x4 5.0 with now 298 miles, the tech over torqued the axle nut and broke the bolt on the driver side so naturally the whole axle assembly had to be removed. I am not super mechanically inclined and correct me if I am wrong but I believe it’s the differential that it connects to on the driver side? Anyways after dealing with lots of evidently “normal” noise from this newly designed dual injection v8 and 10spd transmission I decided tonight to take a look at what everything looked like on that side(I was already nervous about them putting it all back together). I discovered this in the pictures below where the axle shaft made the last connection(the end furthest from the wheel) and this didn’t look good to me but hopefully someone with more knowledge could clarify what’s happened here, what might happen next, and how they might or should repair it? Would this cause any noticeable symptoms? I’ve got a list of them but they are “normal” as of now from what I’ve read.

I planned on it but I am arming myself with any knowledge possible beforehand. Does it look like it was done when they pried it off? Or from movement after not put back in correctly? I know seals and such have to be replaced when you remove it and install again. I doubt they did anything your suppose to do though.

Which leveling kit did you have installed?

Most leveling kits are just spacers that go on the strut tower or on the bottom mount of the strut. Im having a hard time seeing what exactly those pics are of.

yes that is what it was a spacer but this tech evidently removes the axle nut to be able to more easily remove the the strut assembly or whatever.
The area of damage you are looking at can be more easily pictured in this image below of a 2018 f-150 driver side front half shaft image. Right where you see the purple tire lever in the picture making contact between the differential and the half shaft is the damage you are looking at in the pictures above.

To me that looks like someone used something to pry on that spot and damage a seal. I would just take it back to the shop that worked on it. It seems pretty obvious that it's not supposed to be like that

Your axle seal has been damaged and absolutely needs to be replaced. The seal was obviously damaged during removal of your axle. It doesn’t appear so, but be sure that the housing wasn’t scored enough to cause future leaks at the seal area.

In their defense, sometimes these things happen. The mistake was that they didn’t catch it while doing the job. If they had they could have simply replaced the seal while the axle was out. Now they’re going to be pulling the axle again.
