Indeed. perhaps DD has actual data on how warm it stays in there, but if any of you have a temperature probe of any kind i'm almost positive you can find out how hot it is in there

Anybody purchase these that don't live in a cold climate?

Our engineering team has run countless thermal simulations, performed extreme temperature and humidity tests, and we have flow-simulations for the SL1.

They've also been installed on several vehicles with the driver installed inside the dust cap for most of 2017.

Rest assured, they will be reliable and function flawlessly for many years.

When I do mine, I'm not gonna worry about the heat, your stock halogens put out a lot of heat too.

Yeah, put those strips right in the nice cold engine bay!

Heat dissipates through materials... you do not need them to be exposed externally. I know this sounds simple but basically... your factory headlights don't melt, and each halogen bulb puts out 45+ watts of heat (55W bulb, only 10-15% efficient). These are putting around 18 watts of heat into that same space. So less than half of the heat as factory bulbs.

Yes, it's true that LEDs can't take high heat like halogen, so that's not a completely fair comparison.. but it's really not an issue at all. These have been tested in the headlight, sealed, at 185 degrees ambient. We have equipment here that is specifically designed to do this test - it is the same test all factory headlights go through, defined by SAE. They will be just fine. And as I mentioned in a prior post, this is repeatable and test-able... making it more reliable than a braid that will hopefully be in cool air, and hopefully stay spread out, and hopefully not build up a layer of oxidation which reduces thermal conductivity... etc etc.

Decided what the hell and put in an order for the low beam SL1s. Maybe if I go in with low expectations I'll be amazed and actually keep them. So we'll see... If they turn out nice I'll get the fogs as well. I rarely use high beam so I won't waste $150 on something I don't use.

Just have to wait 2-4 weeks for backorder
