In that there are many extra part, I didn't say exactly alike!

Eco boys are sensitive. Dpf or def is just one part, like Eco has twin intakes where a si glee turbo motor doesn't.

One thing the diesel has over the Eco is an egr system. You put an egr and add pcv together you get a nice black tar goo in your intake over time, and good luck trying to disable that. Half tons diesels are not exempt from emissions unless you live out in the country. I had a Duramax with an efi live tune in it and it was fun, but I will never own another diesel again.

Yep, they both have many parts.

I just found it interesting the Eco guys were denouncing a diesel because of all the "extras" when the Eco has just as many. Are they exactly the same? No but compared to a V8, both have many more specialized parts.

Diesels have EGR and it's a much bigger problem for diesels than gas engines.

Modern diesels have EGR, DPF and DEF. so much emmision crap that I believe that most don't even run mufflers because of all the filters on the exhaust. A lot more then any gas engine.

I KNOW what diesels have on them! I probably deal with diesel motors and EGR, DPF, DEF, and regen more than most as that's what I drive for a living, all ranging from 20 year old Detroits to new emission choked V6 diesels from Cummings, Detroit, etc.

My point is that both engines are complicated vs a standard V8 and that guys with Eco were bashing diesels because of their complexities even though the Eco is a complex motor also.

I'm NOT saying the ecoboost and diesel are exactly alike parts wise! Once again, I'm not saying they are the same parts wise!

I'm saying they are both very complex motors that have a premium cost over the V8 and found it funny that the Eco guys were bashing the diesel due to being to complex and more expensive.

For the sensitive Eco guys, I'm not bashing the motor, I love it! I think it's awesome and want one but it's not in the cards right now! I'll take a diesel with the right numbers also!

I don't believe that to be true at all. It has hardly been a flop. The uptake on that 3L has actually been quite good. Just poke around on the forums- very few guys have regretted buying those trucks. Sure there are those that for whatever reason felt they were buying cummins power, but the owners that reapect the limitations and understand the motor and what it was intended for are really happy. There are lots of the EDs popping up in campgrounds and on forums.

While I don't like the diesels generally because I will never use the full potential, I think there is a market for it, and that's what it's all about.

^Agreed. I was really looking at the ED. Like you said it's a solid motor if you understand and respect its limitations. My biggest gripe was I do A LOT of stop and go driving and short trips and I worried about the DPF being able to get hot enough. If Ford can put a diesel in the F150 and have the emissions equipment be reliable for any type of driving then that will be my next truck whenever I get a new one......probably 20 yrs from now with prices lol

I agree I had an eco diesel on order a year ago that I had to back out of unfortunately. It was my first choice of truck ,fast forward a year the stop and go and short trips scared me away from going through with it this time and I ended up with a 3.5 economist lariat.

First ford and I really like it but deep down I pictured myself in a eco diesel and always have that I wish I would of chanced it feeling.

If Ford was to bring a diesel into the F150 world, it would be a 4 or 6 cylinder. It would also be underrated. One would hope that they would build it in house like it's big brother the 6.7, but that's highly unlikely. With the EPA getting stricter and stricter with this CAFE crap, I don't see much coming of the diesels other than heavy haulers.
