I'd never trust a new diesel. all the EPA mandated emission stuff means more stuff to break and go bad. 800 sensors and all that. the block and rotating assembly might be beast mode, but all the attached electronics will suck.

granted, power curve and everything will be great. hella MPG too.

also, tuning isn't necessarily for EPA emission stuff bypassing - turbo vehicles respond exceptionally well to tuning when it comes to performance, even more so for diesels. regular cab, if available, will haul total ***.

Gotta agree with safetypin. None of the new diesels turn my crank which is why I ended up with a gasser HD. I have no time for the emissions, pump, injector, sensor, other crap failures that seem to plague them.

There still available, trust me there are plenty deleted/tuned 2015 diesels out there.

Odd that some of the same folks who own turbo gas engines are leery of a new turbo diesel. But I agree, the EPA has made new diesels an engine only for those who need them. They don't seem to be the torque monster, mpg miser, indestructible power plants that they once were. I've heard fleet guys praise the old 5.4 equipped f 250's in comparison to their diesel equipped siblings enough to be leery of a new diesel. The diesel Tundra is something I'm interested to see how people accept. If ford puts one in an f150 with few complaints, I may be in.

It's just like an ecoboost, turbos, direct injection, tons of sensors, etc. It's just done a little differently.

We run the hell out of newer diesel rigs at work and they work great even with all the new emissions crap.

It's just like an Ecoboost? Still don't see a DPF or DEF on my Ecoboost...

A diesel engine in an f150 makes no sense. New diesels are so complicated and expensive to fix. They are choked up with so much emission equipment its a joke and the fuel is a dollar more a gallon. Not to mention the added cost of more frequent maintenance and adding thousands of dollars in adding it as an option.

The Dodge ecodiesel has been a complete failure. It sucks and nobody wants one. They sold 2 of them where I work, 1 was a buyback and the other was almost a buyback. The owners hate them. Half ton diesel never works, GM tried in the 80's and failed then too. Why would Ford even bother?
