I still have the Factory 20" spare under the bed, I figured it's better than nothing in an emergency it will get me off the road if needed. Plus I have that Ford roadside service if needed.....Lol

^Had to do this more than once because pretty much any flat I've gotten has been a rear tire.

Can't believe all the misinformation in this thread. I would think that everyone knows that putting a larger tire on your rig effectively makes the gearing higher. So if you're running 35" tires and 3.55 gears, your effective gearing is (just a guess) 3.21 or even higher. So you get a flat on the rear and put your stock 31" tire on that corner. Now you've got one tire geared 3.21 and the other geared 3.55. Think that's good for your rear diff? Talk to the gearing experts at your local 4wd shop, they'll straighten you out. You can do that but only for a very short distance. And your transfer case doesn't care about the size of the tires.

In an emergency to get my family to safety I'll do whatever it takes.........I'm not worried about the rear differential.

Yup! That would be perfect timing to change gears and add a detroit locker!

I went from 275/55/20 to 275/60/20. I bought a new spare in 275/70/18 to get pretty close to my new size. It fits in the spare area just fine

I drove my previous truck for almost 11 years and never had a reason to drop the spare. But I can guarantee you if I took it off for some reason I would suddenly have a blowout on some dark backroad in the middle of nowhere with no cell service. My spare stays!

In my previous job, the spare tire was a good place to hide all kinds of illegal contraband, weapons, cash and was the first place we looked and took a sniff of the spare tire air or rolled it around for the thumping. Lots of tire shops in the ghetto.

Ain't nothing wrong with hiding sh*t from the Popo in the ghetto...........I'm from the ghetto and you aren't welcome to sniff my air officer.

The differential has the ability to deal with 2 wheels on the same axle going different speeds, hence the name. It happens every time you go around a corner. Unless you activate the e-locker then it can't.

The transfer case is locked same speed between front and rear. It cannot handle 2 different speeds between front and rear (different size tires).

If you are in 2wd and put a different size spare on it is ok in any position. If you put it on the rear don't use the e-locker. Do not use 4wd with different size tires.
