Did you drop your spare after changing tire sizes?

My wife bought a van with no spare tire. I about served her up on the spot ! Ok not really (love you honey!) but honestly I hate the fact that I can’t swap a tire if I need to. So when I got bigger tires on my truck, I upgraded the spare to the same tire as well. Tires are literally the only point of contact your vehicle has (should have) with the earth, so make sure your covered and safe and get your spare right.

Totally spaced the fact that the Raptor has 35" tires and a spare in the exact same position underneath the bed. Guess I'll take the spare tire off the wheel and have another 33" KO2 mounted on it in case I need it since I know a place I can get one pretty cheap.

My spare is also 1 inch smaller and I have had to use it. Didn't really even notice a difference. That 1 inch is only drops that corner 1/2 inch. I did notice that it wasn't an all terrain tire like my others, so it drove different. But worked just fine to get my regular tire to the shop for repair.

I don't understand this logic. A spare tire is needed in the event of an emergency flat. You get a flat , you put your spare on, you drive only as long as it takes to get your flat repaired or replaced.

We also own a Jeep and the stock tire size is a 31" tire. Many owners go to a 33" or a 35" tire, or bigger. It's commonly posted on Jeep forums that you should not run the factory spare (31") with anything other than a 31" tire. Doing so will, supposedly, cause damage to the rear end or transfer case depending on where the flat is. The driveline systems on our F-150's could work differently and therefore not have an issue with miss match tires sizes. I don't know, but have the same question as the op for this reason.

I actually carry two spares on mine. The one on a 18" alloy wheel it came with, under the truck and a 17" OEM alloy wheel I bought from E-bay is in the bed. Installed a tire on it of the same circumference as the others.
