I was very "old school" with a giant 8-10" buffer and good 1990s era polish.

The new 2018 F150 demands better so upped the game to Meguiars clay kit with a wash in-between to Meguiars 20 sealant today.

Future coats planning the 21 that I already have.

The porter cable 7424XP from Amazon with autogeek.net is life changing - what an awesome tool!

The point of the thread is easy: GO BUY THE PORTER CABLE 7424XP. The thing is frickin' awesome and built like a tank. I had a previous porter cable 5" sander that I put through hell and back on the bottom maintenance of a 22' sailboat over 20 years. I cannot think of any tooling brand I have more respect for - PC just works.

Pics tomorrow - the BakFlip MX4 is getting installed in a few hours. And decided on a Bedrug for starters. Figured I can always fall back to a Line-X premium spray in the future if I want, but couldn't pull the trigger on that so early.

I agree. I bought a porter cable a few years ago and it makes detailing so much easier. I just did my truck this weekend. I used the clay kits in the past but last year i switched to a nanoskin pad for the pc. Much faster and more effective in my opinion. I have included two pics of the results.

My buffer is rarely used these days with the new age polishes and waxes. There's a good selection of top notch sprays that, in my opinion, exceed the old school ways of polishing and waxing with a buffer. Easy on, easy off with spectacular results. No residues either.

But not to rain on this parade, Happy buffering away.

I just did a full paint detail/coating on my '18 this weekend. Nanoskin, Rupes Mille Fine polish, and CQuartz UK 3.0 ceramic coating. The Oxford White paint doesn't show much brilliance in photos but it's clean and slick. This is the first time I've done a ceramic coating so I'm really hoping that it helps the white stay cleaner longer between washes.

If you think the porter cable is good, wait until you upgrade to a Flex or Rupes! I have the flex and really want the flex mini polisher for the harder to reach areas.

Hmm. I have the Porter Cable and an original 1987 vintage Flex. Back then, it was manufactured by Ackermann-Schmitt. I love both!!
