detail day - ceramic coating.

Wanted to chime in and say that my dad has done this to a few of his cars. We have a few black cars and this has been a much better option than wax - it’s like an actual coat. Scratches are caught by the coat and don’t get to the paint. Highly recommend doing if you haven’t done so already.
We had the coat put on one of the cars back in January/February I believe, if not earlier. It’s held up great over the past year. No waxing needed and the paint really shines with it, almost as if it has just came out of the factory. I’m considering it for my truck because it’s time for me to wax mine.

I ceramic coated my truck about 2 weeks ago, but used Cquartz. I find it odd that you didn't compound or polish the truck to remove any swirls/scratches/etc so as not to seal them under the coating. To each their own.
My steps went like this:
Wash foam canon
Clay/nano skin
Light compound with Flex polisher, HD Adapt and orange pad
Polish with CarPro Relfex, Flex polisher and black pad
Wipe down with CarPro Eraser (unnecessary since i used CarPro Reflect polish, but figured it couldn't hurt)
Ceramic coating
CarPro Reload on top
It took me about 5-6 hours. I did a friend's Jeep this past Friday and it came out looking great.

i have really taken care of the paint since day 1. another reason for me trying the coating is that the paint was so clean i could apply it with minimum effort.

I just picked up CQuartz and a Bigfoot (Rupes)... Worked on the wife's Infiniti today with the bigfoot, turned out great... Next week (or maybe this week) I will be doing the F150 with CQuartz... Pretty much how cdiddy explained... I wasn't going to use Eraser though, just some ipa..

Just look for Ceramic coating. Amazon usually will give a few pages of hits. Average price is $60. You can also look on Chemical Guys site, they carry several as well, and recommended for first time users to use them as they can hep get you what you need to do it right.

man, that white looks great. I have a '17 STX that is white, and I just applied Sonax polymer netshield paint sealant on it. The Sonax lasts me close to 7 months before reapplication. I will try this ceramic coating the next time. Thanks for posting this, I appreciate it.

CG products are hit or miss. I have had more misses recently with their products. Not sure what is going on with their stuff... It used to be my go-to.

Looks great, and great discussion about the ceramic covers. Too bad there is nothing one can do to fix the awful paint quality on these trucks. My truck is about a year old and I have swirl marks and massive amount of pits everywhere. I am shocked to see how thin the paint is on these trucks.
Guess in a year or so I'll have to take it to a body shop and have them repaint or fill in panels. And I dont even off-road...
