In defense of the 2.7 ecoboost

How? They aren't lol. Unless they're on a drag radial, which when i'm on the radial it hooks up easily as long as i don't load up into boost to launch. To launch in boost requires lowering the pressure below what i'd drive them on on the street anywhere as well as a good *** burnout lol.

I chatted with a Ford rep on the Ford website a few weeks ago to see if they could locate a 2.7L Screw 4x4 with the payload package. I at least wanted to see some pricing if I decided to get it with the STX or 300A package. There wasn't a single one in the entire state of MN.

I have owned a 2012 5.0, then a 2014 3.5 eco and now a 2018 2.7 eco. The 2.7 eco is fun to drive and snappier down low than the 3.5 eco to me. The 2.7 tuned picks up a lot of fat Ford left on the plate. Btw I don't tow anything over 5,000 lbs.. The 5 star graph of all motors tuned are shown on one chart for easy reference.
Then I figured out that the frame and rear end and tank I want all come in the max towing package which is only avaliable in the 3.5 so I am back to the 3.5 for the larger rear end, HPDD frame/max gross vehicle weight reasons.
If it were up to me I would probably get a max tow/max GVW setup with it's HPDD frame but with the 2.7, but I can't so I will stick with the 3.5 which is also an excellent engine. If it were up to me I would also get a 302A with ACC, but again, I can't so I guess I wont. Still watching the 18+ ACC thread to see if they ever get the forscan coding necessary to calibrate the radar unit so acc can be modded onto existing 302/502 trucks, fingers crossed.

"How are you tuned 2WD guys getting hooked up from a dig? I don't even try to get serious about testing someone in 2WD. What am I doing wrong?

Thankfully, a little click of the dial solves all traction problems for me.
For mine,
Not well in cold weather! Summer temps, E-locker on all traction controls off. Even then I cannot build too many RPM's up against the brakes, it will sit and spin in place at 2500 rpm. Nailing throttle at idle works best for me if it doesn't break traction shifting to 2nd. Running Active Track Sport does help some but then not quite as quick.KM

I’ve always thought a full size truck had to have a V8. When I started looking for a new truck a little over a year ago I saw that Ford put a 2.7 L turbo in their trucks and I thought it would be a powerless waste of a truck. I’ve driven many cars with tiny turbocharged engines that were badly underpowered. I started searching the Internet and everything I read and videos I viewed showed just the opposite. When I test drove one with a six speed I was floored. It was smooth and powerful. Now it’s my favorite vehicle to drive.
