Dear Mr. Easter Bunny: please tell Ford to...
...allow the customer to spec a truck the way they want, and not "bundle" options.
I'm finding on the Build a F150 website that the XL Base Reg Cab 122" 100A Std Package is like a forgotten stepchild...3.73s aren't available with the 5.0, if you want floor mats with the vinyl flooring that requires carpet and the 101A Package, fog lights are bundled, the 3.5EB isn't offered at all in the 122" WB (WTF?), there's no option to add *just* the color-coordinated headlamp surround/grill side pieces as they're bundled with the Appearance Packages...on top of that our three Ford dealers on Oahu hardly stock EBs at all unless they're fully optioned SCrews or ClubCabs. Geez!

You wanna talk about weird option requirements... Ford won't allow you to put the power deplorable running boards on a race red truck. Literally, the spec sheets say except for race red.

sadly i love to build and price new trucks in my free time. i ordered my 14 and they pretty much let me have whatever. but now they won't let me build a similar truck at all. perhaps it will change in the last year of the bodystyle again. not that anyone wants to wait till 2019 or 2020 for a new truck

OTOH, when the options are bundled in packages , you typically get more options for the same price. Yes, I get the "i dont want all these other things" approach but this is usually predicated on the assumption that somehow if the packages were disaggregated the sum of the individual parts would add up to the same as the package price rather than substantially more. Typically this is not the case (as an example look at how the max tow package gives you a "free" locker compared to the tow package+ brake controller (included in max tow but not in tow package).
When I looked at GM trucks there was more opportunity to add individual items but it quickly racked up pricing. And also from a marketing perspective, if say LEDs were available as a stand-alone option, how many 502A sales would this cannibalize? Would not be the smartest marketing move. Just my $0.02 worth. Personally I get more p***ed off about the color limitations on the Sport pack and on the platinums. e.g. why can you not get a plat in lightning blue ofr Oxford white ??? Or only get sports in limited colors??

What irritates me is the stock images used on the builder website, example: a race red SE package that doesn't allow race red as an option or the 8" IPC shown on all trim levels with some fine print at the bottom..

Is there a reason that Ford doesn't offer the 3.5EB in the XL Base RC 122"? I realize this is a similar recipe to the Tremor from 2014 but having a (relatively) lightweight truck with crank windows, manual locks and so on fitted with a GenII 3.5EB and good rear gearing does have a certain "throwback" appeal (at least to me, since I raced Buicks for so long,)

What irritates me is the amount of people on this website that **** and moan and start threads that do nothing for the website or community as a whole. You bitching on the forum will not change Ford. They will do whatever they want slap an F150 Badge on it and sell like they do year after year. Do yourself a favor and do something useful like the guys doing write ups for cool mods or reviewing aftermarket items for the truck. These bitching threads are getting old fast....
