Dealers - <sigh>
Bought a new F150 29 April. I guess there was a reason I bought used for so many decades. Also a reason I bought Porsche and my wife Mercedes and Tesla. Tesla wasn't any picnic either - but I digress.
The new purchase process was - as always - a total hassle. I ended up pointing out all the BS as it was being said - and eventually the sales end of the dealership just gave up and sold me the Truck for what I wanted to pay. They had the truck for 4 months. Build date was 17 Dec. Nothing special - just it was Ruby Red and every other truck on the lot was was grey, silver, white or black. Guess their clientele didn't like Red. But you'd think they'd want to actually sell it at that point.
In any event - went through the whole process - was handed the keys, forced to sign up for Fordpass, and that was it. No intro to Service Dept, no help with features - nothing. Tank of gas, off you go.
I slammed the dealership for this in the post sale survey - Ford called me - and asked specifically what went down. Dealership told them "it seemed I wanted to leave." Yes - after four HOURS I did want to leave but you have two hours after the sale was completed to service the vehicle. You could have spent some time with me giving me a tour at least. Still never heard from the Dealer.
The next closest dealer [which is actually the closest to my home] sold me an accessory. A Bedliner - very good price. Installed it. Broke one of the two LED bed lights and snapped off two of the bed cleats. And somehow forgot to tell me. Until I was driving out and saw the cracked glass and snapped off cleats. I asked what was up with that - they actually fessed up - and made no apologies for the damage. But they totally failed to tell me about the damage. They of course made good. Once it was discovered. Good thing I inspect before I leave.
So where do I go for service? A dealership that doesn't really give a crap, or one that damaged my truck and tried to get away with it. The next closest one is just not very convenient.
anyway - American car dealers have not changed much in 25 years - the last time I bought a vehicle new.

The second dealer, they may not have made any apologies, but did they fix their mistakes? I really hope they did!
Regarding your service question, unless you have a particular reason to go to a dealer, it might be worthwhile to find a local mechanic instead.
What do you mean by "forced to sign up for Fordpass"?

Well... the good part is they require very little service. Hopefully your truck won't require much if any warranty service.
If you're like me, change your own oil, pay attention to your truck and inspect everything periodically you won't ever see them.
To answer your question, I'd use the one that fessed up. Almost surprised they did. Just need to inspect every time before you leave. You can be sure they didn't use their best technician to install the bed liner. Most likely the kid that washes them before you take delivery.
Now smile. Enjoy your new truck.

Sounds like you might want to give your purchasing dealer a shot. Salesmen are just people and nobody is perfect. At least you have the history of the purchase with them. Maybe the service department is the highlight of the dealership. Life is short, why not give them a chance?

Try to separate sales from service at the dealer. Although you are used to them tied together with other makes they are distinct revenue streams at American car dealerships for the most part. You knock one sales department but haven't tried service and vice versa.

Is a tour of the service department that important? It sounds like the correctly judged that you just wanted to leave at that point.

After four hours ANYBODY would want to leave. That's tantamount to torture and it is intentional to wear a customer down. I walked on two dealers after it was evident they were pulling my chain, wasting my time. When they came running after me trying to appease I blew them off. Life is short and wasting anyone's time is not only rude but plain wrong.

I would give the selling dealers service department a try. They might be the best in the world, just because the sales dept sucked doesn't mean service will.
