Dealer sold me truck with very dangerous issue
#11
In all seriousness I would have NEVER bought a NEW truck that was in the service department for a scratch on the door sill panel & a dead battery. There's NO WAY the battery should be dead unless there's an electrical draw on it somewhere. These trucks turn off everything for you if you leave any lights on, so it had an electrical issue from the start.....Why would you buy something that already needed parts replaced ? Regardless of how minor they said they were....
For the OP. Get rid of that truck anyway you can. Electrical gremlins will haunt you for a long time. Dealer A pulled a fast one on you and you need to figure out a way to get out of that transaction.
Pulling the dash is something that cost enough to raise red flags for resale value and such.

You need to DEMAND the service records. Demand a talk with the GM and start getting tuff. Time to be an A-hole. Mr. nice guy isn't going to get anything resolved. For those that don't agree, good luck. You are going to get zero accomplished without turning this in to a major time consuming nightmare.

What are you talking about ??? Your truck will AUTOMATICALLY turn OFF any exterior or interior lights that are left on after a set amount of time. You cannot kill your battery by leaving the lights on anymore. Try it & see, leave your interior dome lights on & come back about 30 minutes to an hour later, they will be off. Same goes for your headlights. Your truck is smarter than you are. All new vehicles go through a PDI service (Pre Delivery Inspection) so they ALL run through the shop as soon as they hit the dealer lot. How do you think that state inspection or emissions sticker gets on your windshield....magic ???

Further, if a dealership discovers a bad battery in a brand new truck and get Ford to pay to replace it, how would the buyer ever know that? Obviously the dealership can still sell that truck.
So unless Dealer A was lying, I don't see why the OP wouldn't buy the truck, nor that Dealer A did anything wrong in selling it.

Thank you all for your help. Just to clarify some points, the discussion I had with Dealer A was what I will call very spirited. Since that call yesterday afternoon, I have received three calls from him to work out the rental and tell me he is looking into the full service history, so I'm hoping they are taking this seriously. If not, they will be soon.
I have already demanded all of the service records (which I will now do for all new vehicles before I purchase, lesson learned). I will also be able to compare those to what Dealer B is able to access to see if there are any discrepancies.
I have contacted a lawyer who has advised to at least see what the service techs uncover and then take steps as necessary. Thanks for all of your suggestions for pursuing a lemon law claim and I will definitely be following those.
As a side note, I'm not trying to be annoying by not naming the dealers. Just waiting to see how it shakes out in case this goes into litigation. Dealer B I am referring to has a fantastic service department which has always taken good care of me. I'll post something about them at a later time to give credit where credit is due.
I'll keep you all posted. Hopefully this can help someone else down the road.

You don't have to demand anything and nobody has to guess, the second dealer that has the truck now can run oasis and get the warranty history. Any repairs done under warranty will be there. If it was very recent it may not show up in oasis yet.

I thought there was a thread here were this was proven wrong - that the vehicle hadn't been sold yet so it wasn't a warranty claim and didn't show up, and it was a vehicle with body damage.... I'll try to find it.
Welcome to the F150 family OP. The dealers generally suck but the trucks are great. Sorry to hear this is how you are starting out.

First, sorry to hear about your new truck having this type of issue, very frustrating for sure. A couple questions – Did the truck shut completely off or go into “limp home mode” where it feels like there is no power/shudders and extremely limited response to throttle input? What did you do the 3x it happened, coast to the side of the road and restart it? Were you able to clear the wrench each time it happened? Was it raining/wet out when this happened?
