Dealer Installed Level Kit - $550 - Thoughts?
I want a level kit installed on my 2017 XLT and the dealer said they can have it done. (They work with an outside company and basically give me a loaner and I'm sure make some money on the deal)
He said $550 is the cost for a Rough Country Level Kit installed. That would include the Alignment etc, start to finish completed job.
Is that to much or if I were to order a kit and pay to have it installed or am I just splitting hairs and pay the little extra for the simplicity factor.
If I were to buy my own kit, which should I go with if that path is taken.

I've been quoted anywhere from $325 from local shops and $400 from the dealer. If the leveling kit is $100 and an alignment anywhere from $60-$100. You are looking at over $300 for labor. $550 Seems a little excessive

I know nothing of lift kits; however, if they're just going to sub it out, why don't you go straight to the sub? Plus, if something doesn't go right, you can scream at them directly, versus having a middleman to deal with.

My dealer charges $160ish for labor, $70 for an alignment, and you can bring your own kit. I think I was somewhere around $350 for a front end install all said and done. $500 is rather pricey unless you're doing the rear too and that's included.

I should point out, I called the shop directly and they quoted me $610 after tax. WTF
Guess they are giving the dealer a break and then the dealer is still making money at $550.

Sounds worth it to me. Technically, Ford isn't standing behind it, but you've got the dealer on your side. Plenty of extra "support" on your side should a CV axle break or some other warranty issue arises in the future. I'd pay the extra for a little peace of mind myself. At the very least you've got a dealership authorizing the work and using an installer that they deem trustworthy.
