DO yourself a favor, laugh and move on!
Its obvious that I'm responsible because I signed the contract. I want to publicize this scam so that others, especially those not experienced with car salesmen, are aware of this particular scam. If it was just a few hundred dollars, it would be a reasonable deal but $1500!

Very true, but some tough love doesnt hurt and will make him stronger the next time. Hopefully he will come here first!

I am not going to ask what his interest rate was!

He kept talking about his days as a commercial fisherman which I was too but while he babbled on I took my eye off the ball. I'm as mad at myself as I am at him.
I will only speak for myself here, this was not a scam. Now what I will agree with you on is that a sleazy technique was used on a novice such as yourself. Come to us next time, before you leap for a second opinion!

Enjoy your truck!

I could have gotten 0% but the sales price would have been higher.

All car salesmen are slick, it seems like the higher up on the food chain (finance manager etc) the slicker they are. I have a couple of personal observations, first of all there is not such thing as a good deal, if you drive home in a new car you got taken advantage of somehow. And second, never buy a car from a friend that works at a dealership, when you realize how you were taken advantage of your friendship could be in danger and you can never be as aggressive in negotiations

I am enjoying my truck; it's a lot of fun to drive. Thanks
I'd never would want to make my living selling cars if this sort of selling technique is considered standard.
Yes, I should just get over it and let it go. I'll have all my standard maintenance done elsewhere.

Let' five the OP a break. I will be more than half of the people on here have been jacked by a dealer at some point, my self included. Probably a couple times. It happens. We learn. We watch.
Enjoy the truck. If you have a portfolio at all you are doing better than most.

Op's links don't work because you can't copy the url from address bar to share a link, you must click the share button and then click get link and copy paste that.
