Deal fell through

Before I pulled the trigger on my 17 f150 lariat I drove the Chevy LTZ, Tundra Limited, and Nissan Platinum. All had things I liked and things some of the others don't from the prices all very similar.
Take away: Ford had the best technology and safety ratings. Chevy had great ride quality and better cooled seats. Tundra has great reliability and best in class resale values. Nissan had those awesome zero gravity nasa seats and 360 camera in a truck that was cheaper than a Lariat trim when priced out at dealer.

Never considered the GM brand.
IMO they're just butt ugly. If I don't like the look of something nothing else really matters.

Had a 15 Sierra before my f150, hated the constant recalls, wasnt a bad truck otherwise, crazy mileage, rode good yes, huge plus on gm- so easy to change headlight bulbs. Not quite an f150 tho, thats why i came back, plus being a ford guy it felt weird in a gm. Those obnoxious gm truck commercials dont help.

Spot on about GM towing in light duty trucks. They no longer offer 3.73's in the 1500 series so I moved to Ford. Say what you want about multi speed transmissions but is the lower rear end gears that give you the towing capacity.

First of all I commend you for walking away and going with your gut. If you're like me you're spending a high percentage of your income on your truck and you've got to live with your decision for a lengthy amount of time. There are lots of trucks and dealers out there to work with. I'm blessed with a very good local dealer.
Second, I've driven and been around the others, you won't be disappointed in the F150. There are too many reasons it continues to be the top seller year after year. I feel very safe hauling my young grandchildren in it.

I would have no problem driving a GM truck - I owned a 2002 Avalanche for 14 years, and it was the best vehicle I have owned. I would have to go with the 6.2 to have comparable power to the 3.5. It would get comparable mileage to the F-150 on the highway due to cylinder shutoff; different method, same results. I know several people with GM full size trucks or SUVs who get 22-24 mpg on the highway at 70 mph. I went with the F-150 this time because I like the low rpm torque provided by the 3.5 eco motor, the aluminum panels, the slightly higher retained resale value, the huge rear seats, and the high crash ratings.

I have a 2016 sierra Denali and looking for a new f150 KR not very happy with this truck shifts jerky and untimely. no room in back seat compared to my 2013 lariat. I do think the ride is not as good as my Lariat, but it does corner better in winding roads

I considered looking at a GMC but when I drove onto the lot with the ole lady with me she just laughed. Asked me if I was seriously considering a GM truck. Once I looked inside I knew they were not for me. I think my 94 Ranger had more room. Never looked at a Dodge or any of the Japanese offerings other than online. Once I decided to get away from SUVs and back into a truck my mind on model was pretty much made up from the beginning. I research everything into the ground online before I ever make a move in reality.
