Default Dangerous throttle lag 5.0

Found out today that the 5.0 in my truck has a dangerous throttle lag in emergency situations. Try accelerating gently, let off for a moment, then punch the throttle to the floor. Nothing happens for about 2-3 seconds. Nearly got hit trying to get out of another vehicle's path. It felt like the truck shut off I tried it again several more times after that. After punching it, the transmission can't decide on how many gears to drop down before there is any throttle response. At least now I know. Time to find a fix. 2018 5.0 3.73 Roush non supercharged

It’s not the 5.0, it’s the crappy drive by wire. My 6.2 sometimes will have a seizure if I floor it suddenly and won’t rev for 1-2 seconds, same deal on the old mans 3.5 Ecoboost. I agree it’s dangerous.

On top of the delayed acceleration the transmissions can’t decide what gear to be in.

I had a rental Jeep Chokee, if you think our trucks are bad at that drive one of them. They all have the same issue searching for gears because they are made to save gas. Try Sport Mode and see if that fixes the new feature you found.

Pedal commander, or punch it ALL the way to the floor, not just part way. Went through this with the MRS. There is a big difference between a lot more brake (or gas) and all the way down to the floor.

Suggest going to a remote areas and testing the difference with a stopwatch. If you measure and actual 2-3 second delay with the pedal all the way to the floor you have an issue that needs correcting before you void your warranty with a blower.

No issues with my 2018 2.7L. If I give it gas it goes, generally dropping 2 gears if 7th or above or 1 if lower. If I am in traffic, I will put in in sport mode and have zero issues. It moves when I need it too.

People can scoff at the Pedal Commander, but it does work.
It works with every engine and brand, because they all have lag during take off or stomping on it at any speed.

Would've killed to have the Commander during my 5.4 years. That delay was ridiculous!

I drove a rental Hyundai Veloster that was like that too. By 35 mph it was in 5th gear. If you needed to accelerate quick, forget it.

Misleading title as it affects all drive by wire controlled vehicles.

I've experienced this same thing when trying to cross 2 eastbound lanes while waiting to make a turn to the westbound lanes. I gave it some good throttle, let up halfway to let a slow car get in front of me, then when I put the hammer down the second time.... -nothing-. It seemed like it lasted 5 seconds. It seems like maybe some code meant to protect the transmission. I wonder if an aftermarket tune would fix it.
